Can We Help?
Jean George is our Linwood Community Resource Advocate. Her position is funded through an ELCA grant. There are many programs in the Fox Cities that help older adults live safely, independently and age in place. Jean’s role is to help older adults overcome the barriers in accessing these programs. Barriers that many face include:
Lack of knowledge of the programs available
Lack of computer skills or transportation allowing access to these resources
Hearing, visual and mobility impairments
No family member or close friend to help navigate programs
Programs and information that Jean can help you access include:
transportation, housing and energy assistance, scam prevention, fall prevention, foot care, veteran services, advance care planning, food banks and meal delivery services, medical equipment loans, representative payee options, medication delivery, Medicare education and access to support groups for grief, visual and hearing impairments.
Jean can help identify your needs, access your barriers to meeting those needs with as little stress as possible. This program is meant to help you, your older church members, AND your family, friends, and neighbors. For more information, please contact Jean at resource.fvlhomes@gmail.com or 920-734-7225 Ext 7.

Giving Back To Our Community
The tenants of Linwood Community are sponsoring a hygiene supply drive for World Relief, a nonprofit that provides services and financial, emotional, cultural and spiritual support for recently arriving immigrant and refugee neighbors.
Needed items include: shampoo, bar soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shaving cream and disposable razors. Help us show love and support to our newest neighbors by dropping off your items by Monday, February 17 at our flagpole entrance at 425 N Linwood Ave. Appleton. Special thanks to Thrivent for an Action Team grant that will be used to enhance the care packages.

A Good Night’s Sleep?
Sleep is crucial as it plays a vital role in maintaining our overall health, including cognition, mood regulation, immune system strength, and physical well-being. Poor sleep increases the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and depression, while also impacting memory, concentration, and balance due to the brain's restorative processes that occur during sleep. Our sleep becomes more “fragile” as we age, which may contribute to light sleep, falling asleep during the daytime, waking at night, and obtaining fewer total hours of sleep.
Join us on Thursday, February 13th at 2 pm. as our Wellness Coordinator, Yon Abel shares steps we can all take to combat sleep problems.
